In short

  • We collect only what we need to run your account and show your progress.
  • Your teachers and the site administrators can see your results. Other students cannot.
  • We do not sell your information or use it to show you adverts.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

1. Who we are

Sigungusekuyala is a free practice and revision website for IGCSE and EGCSE students in Eswatini. It is run by Qiniso Dlamini, who decides how your information is used (in law, the “data controller”). In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the site.

2. What we collect

WhatExamplesWhy we need it
Account details Username, email address, password, whether you are a student, teacher or administrator, and the date you joined. We store only a scrambled version of your password, never the password itself. To create your account and let you sign in.
Sign-in records The date, time and IP address of each successful sign-in. Security, spotting misuse, and helping you if something goes wrong.
Practice data Tests you start and finish, the answers you choose, your marks, how long you take, when you pause, and the questions you retry. To mark your tests, save your place and show your results.
Progress summaries How you are doing in each subject, topic, sub-topic and learning objective. To power your analytics page and help teachers see where students need support.
Error records If the site hits a fault: the page, the time, your browser type, your IP address and your username if you were signed in. To find and fix problems.
Administration records When an administrator changes someone's role or switches an account on or off, and which administrator did it. Accountability and security.
Messages to us Anything you email us, and your email address. To reply to you.

We do not ask for payment details, ID numbers, your exact location, photos or your contacts.

3. How we use it

  • To run your account and sign you in.
  • To mark your tests, save your progress and show your results and analytics.
  • To let teachers see how their students are doing, so they can decide what to teach next.
  • To keep the site safe and working, including spotting misuse and fixing errors.
  • To understand which parts of the site are used, through visit statistics (see Cookies).
  • To reply when you contact us.

We use your information because you asked us to provide the service by creating an account, and, where the law allows, to keep the site secure and working. For analytics cookies we rely on your agreement. We do not use your information for advertising and we do not sell it.

4. Who can see it

  • You can see your own results and progress.
  • Teachers and administrators can see student usernames, test attempts, scores and progress. Administrators can also see email addresses and sign-in records.
  • Other students cannot see your information. There are no public leaderboards.
  • Services that help us run the site: our web and database hosting providers; Cloudflare, which stores the study files teachers upload; and Google Analytics, which measures visits. Some of these providers handle data on servers outside Eswatini.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect someone's safety.

5. Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser keeps. We use three kinds:

  • Sign-in cookie. Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. The site cannot work without it.
  • Security cookie. Protects forms (such as submitting an answer) from being sent by other websites on your behalf.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics). Tell us how many people visit, which pages they view, and roughly where they are and what device they use. You can switch these off by blocking cookies in your browser or by using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use cookies to show adverts.

6. Young people

Most of our students are school learners and many are under 18. We keep the information we collect to the minimum needed to run the site, and we never show a student's information to other students.

We ask learners under 18 to register with the knowledge of a parent, guardian or teacher. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to ask what we hold about their child, or to have the account removed. Please do not put phone numbers, home addresses or other personal details in your username.

7. How long we keep it

  • Accounts, results and progress are kept while your account exists, so your history stays complete.
  • Deactivated accounts are kept so that past results stay consistent, but the person can no longer sign in.
  • Error records are cleared out regularly.
  • If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete it or remove your identity from it.

8. Keeping it safe

Passwords are stored in scrambled form, so nobody, including us, can read them. What each person can see depends on their role. No online service is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we will tell you and the regulator, as the law requires.

You can help by choosing a password you do not use anywhere else and by signing out on shared computers and phones.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you, and give you a copy, free of charge;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete your account and information;
  • stop using your information for something you did not agree to.

Email us from the address on your account so that we can check it is you. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You can also contact the Eswatini Data Protection Authority (the Eswatini Communications Commission).

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information we will update this page and its “last updated” date. For important changes we will also put a notice on the site.
